After surgery, the surgeon “drains” the joints by inserting drainage (plastic tubes) to drain the blood into a special plastic container. This container is changed until the drainage is removed. Next, a suture is placed on the wound, and its edges are fastened with special staples.

A control x-ray is taken immediately after the operation is completed so that the doctor can make sure that the endoprosthesis is in the correct position.

Rehabilitation

The importance of rehabilitation measures is difficult to overestimate. For complete recovery, qualified assistance from rehabilitation doctors is necessary. Procedures and activities are prescribed to promote rapid recovery:

• physiotherapy - helps reduce swelling and pain;
• therapeutic massage - improves blood circulation;
• health-improving gymnastics in water - actively trains all body systems without harming the sore joint;
• Exercise therapy - helps restore motor function of the knee joint.

The patient is advised to wear a knee brace or elastic bandage to secure the joint. For the first time after surgery, it is necessary to use a cane and wear shoes with orthopedic insoles to reduce the load on the articular surfaces.

The rehabilitation scheme is drawn up by a traumatologist-orthopedist and a physical therapy doctor. Drug therapy is selected. Full motor function is restored within 2.5-4.5 months from the date of surgery.
