Burdock, traditional medicine: treatment with juice, roots, leaves

Experiencing constant pain in the joints, any person will look for all kinds of remedies to eliminate this condition. At the same time, without even suspecting the existence of the most effective remedy, which is a common weed growing in every yard - burdock. The ways to use burdock for joint pain are varied. Ointments, compresses, and solutions for both oral and external use are prepared from it. These alternative treatments are often more effective than common short-term medications. Moreover, such therapy has almost no contraindications or side effects.

Lower back pain - treatment with burdock leaves

Of all the types of pain, I especially remember the suffering from my back, which worsened when I lifted something heavy. I have accumulated folk recipes that have helped me with diseases of the sacrum and spine in general.

Burdock: pick the leaves and apply to the lower back, insulating with a thick compress overnight.

Horseradish: grind the roots (150-200 g) in a meat grinder. Place the mixture in a special bag. Place it on your lower back, covering it with film and a warm scarf on top. Do not keep this compress for more than four hours.

The second option for treating horseradish is baths. Pick as many leaves as you can hold in your hand. Chop and place in a saucepan to simmer for two hours. Before pouring this mixture into the bath, wash and steam. And only after that take a bath of horseradish leaves. The water should be 40-50 degrees.

You can be sure that these folk recipes will help.

Rules for the use of burdock

In order for burdock treatment to be as effective as possible, certain rules must be followed. For example, it is recommended to use only young plants. They contain the highest amount of nutrients.

Leaves compress - which side to apply?

To make a compress correctly, the leaves must be carefully washed and then dried in fresh air. Its lower, reverse side is lubricated with vegetable or cosmetic oil. The oil serves as a conductor for easier penetration of beneficial substances into the joint. It can be replaced with another product, the main thing is that the sheet is not dry.

Afterwards, the sheet is applied to the affected area, fixed with compress paper or a sterile bandage and insulated with a warm bandage. The compress is kept on average for a quarter of an hour, the maximum duration is 30 minutes.

Burdock for arthrosis of the knee joint

Knee arthrosis is a disease in which the kneecap joint gradually becomes deformed and loses mobility.

To slow down this process and eliminate pain, you need to do the following:

  1. on the first day, apply a regular compress of leaves with vegetable oil to the knee;
  2. on the second day, apply a compress of leaves with natural honey;
  3. on the third day, use Vishnevsky ointment for a compress.

This three-day course can be repeated twice.

Burdock leaves for radiculitis

This folk recipe has saved me from sciatica and joint pain more than once. I take 10 burdock leaves. I stack them light side down on top of each other like a stack of pancakes. I place a large pan of boiling water directly on them for 5-8 minutes.

Then I apply this multi-layered “cake” with the light side to the back. I put cellophane on top, then wrap myself in a warm scarf or put on a warm belt.

I lie down on an electric heating pad (40°) and sleep all night. I don’t take off the bandage in the morning, I keep it on until the evening. I repeat the treatment again, but with new leaves. As a rule, the pain goes away after 2-3 procedures.

Burdock leaves can be dried for use in winter. It is enough just to steam them, they do not lose their healing properties.

Pharmaceutical preparations based on burdock

Pharmacy products also help a lot. They contain many active ingredients, plant extracts and extracts.

Cream-gel “Joint Plus” with burdock

Cream gel "Joint Plus" contains burdock extract, glucosamine and pectin. It is prescribed in the following cases:

  • constant increased load on joints;
  • joint diseases;
  • injuries of the musculoskeletal system (sprains, dislocations).

“Joint Plus” promotes rapid restoration of articular tissues, maintains normal joints, relieves pain, and relieves swelling.

For chronic joint pain that is constantly getting worse, it is recommended to undergo a full examination by a surgeon or rheumatologist.

Woodlice and burdock will save you from varicose veins

I have varicose veins on both legs, one might say, since birth. Now I'm 22 years old. I tried a lot of ointments and gels, and it got to the point where my legs turned completely blue. There was not a single vein without nodes.

I walked like I was walking on knives, every step was a sharp, severe pain. Thanks to the neighbor who recommended applying fresh woodlice grass. I did it a little differently.

Woodlice was applied to a specific knot. Then I fixed the grass with a burdock leaf from the wrong side. Fresh, just picked, and bandaged my leg. The most important thing: burdock should be kept for no more than 2 hours. Otherwise, then he seems to return the disease back.

And don’t be sorry for the woodlice - if it wilts a little, change it. I applied the grass to each node for at least 7 days. After these procedures, my legs felt lighter and I could even dance.

Which side should you apply burdock leaf for irritation?

With the help of burdock leaves you can get rid of irritation and allergies after insect or mosquito bites.

Which side to apply burdock leaf for irritation:

  • Some of them accumulate a small amount of anesthetic on their noses, which can serve as a kind of poison. A bite often leaves red spots, irritation that is very itchy.
  • Burdock leaves can relieve painful syndrome, as well as itching. It is necessary to crush the freshly torn leaf with your hands or beat it with a hoe. You can tap the back of the knife to release the juice. After this, the rough side of the sheet is placed on the sore spot.
  • It is necessary to change such compresses every 2 hours, because after a certain period of time the flow of juice in the sheets stops, and all the beneficial substances are absorbed into the skin. Don't forget to renew the compresses.

To eliminate a headache, you need to know not only which side to apply the sheet to the head, but also to which zone. In most cases, applications are applied to the forehead area, but this does not always work. A burdock leaf on the forehead is effective if you have a mild headache from fatigue. But if a migraine is triggered by exposure to a virus, the cervical region or the back of the head hurts, then it is best to apply a burdock leaf to this part. If the headache is caused by high blood pressure, then burdock leaves are applied to the temples. Please note that for active action it is necessary to apply the fleecy side to the skin.

Burdock relieves swelling

I work as a nurse in a hospital in the cardiology department. I feel very sorry for those who have suffered a heart attack or stroke. Their feet often swell. Large burdock leaves help with this ailment:

  • in winter I took dry leaves;
  • put it in a deep plate;
  • poured boiling water over it;
  • Covered it with another plate and put it under the pillow until the evening.

Before going to bed, I squeezed the leaves a little and covered the legs of the sick. She wrapped it in cotton cloth so as not to stain the bed linen. On top was a plastic bag and tied tightly with an elastic bandage. In summer it’s even easier:

  • the leaf veins of the burdock were broken;
  • softened without damaging the sheet;
  • I wrapped my leg in 2-3 layers and wrapped it tightly.

It is very important that the foot is hot, just hot, not warm. In the morning, the sore leg looked the same as the healthy one.

Treatment of mastopathy with burdock

Cabbage and burdock leaves helped get rid of mastopathy. I cut off their thick veins and rolled the leaves with a rolling pin. I greased it with butter, sprinkled it with salt and put it on my chest (one at a time). The top was covered with cloth and cellophane.

I wore it for a day, then rested my breasts for an hour. And again I applied fresh burdock and cabbage leaves. And so I was treated for a month. There were no unpleasant sensations. I also drank teas for mastopathy, which are sold in pharmacies.

After 2 months I was examined - nothing was found.

For arthrosis of the shoulder joint - burdock leaves

We pass young burdock leaves through a meat grinder. Squeeze out the juice and add honey and vodka to it in a ratio of 1:1:1. Drink 1 dessert spoon in the morning and evening before meals. Until the condition improves.

Healing properties - what is burdock useful for?

Burdock root and leaves are a concentrate of beneficial substances that have anti-inflammatory, wound-healing, and disinfectant effects.

Benefits of the root for treating joints

Here are the beneficial properties of burdock root:

  • relieves pain;
  • promotes rapid healing of wounds;
  • removes waste and toxins;
  • stimulates the functioning of the lymphatic system;
  • normalizes blood sugar levels;
  • relieves inflammation in degenerative joint diseases.

The root contains large quantities of tannins, resins, essential oils, vitamins and phytosterols.

Medicinal properties of leaves

Burdock leaves have the following properties:

  • stop bleeding;
  • normalize cholesterol levels;
  • destroy pathogenic bacteria;
  • promote the removal of helminths from the body;
  • stimulate the functioning of the biliary tract;
  • have antirheumatic activity, which is very beneficial for joints.

The leaves of the plant contain iron and cobalt, B vitamins and vitamin A, fiber, and organic acids.

Both the leaves and the root are actively used for joint diseases: arthritis, arthrosis, arthralgia, coxarthrosis, bursitis.

For kidney stones - burdock tincture

I suggest a folk recipe for people who have been diagnosed with kidney stones, but surgery is contraindicated. I was saved by this remedy. It is very simple and effective, these are burdock leaves. The leaves were taken and processed fresh, only picked.

Far from the road, pick burdock leaves, rinse and mince. Then you need to squeeze out the juice, filter it through cheesecloth and mix with vodka 50/50.

Close the bottle with the tincture and place it in a cool, dark place for a week. Shake before use. Drink 1 teaspoon once a day at night after meals.

Burdock compress on the knee joint

How to make a compress on the knee from burdock? There are several recipes.

Compress No. 1

This recipe is based on the correct preparation of leaves:

  • Collect burdock leaves in spring.
  • Rinse them well and dry them.
  • Then cut the leaves into thin long strips and put them in a glass jar and close the lid.
  • Leave it in the sun.

After some time, the contents of the jar will turn into mush with mold and an unpleasant odor. This indicates that the product is ready.

If there is severe pain in the joint, this paste should be wrapped in a gauze bandage and this compress should be applied to the damaged area. Remove only after the gauze is completely dry.

Burdock leaf compress No. 2

It is also made according to the following recipe:

  • Fold the required number of leaves (up to 10) into a pile and apply to the knee, securing them with a bandage. For best results, you need to mash them and lubricate the fleecy side (the one you apply to the skin) with vegetable oil. Be sure to wrap your knee in a warm woolen scarf after application.

Compress No. 3

There is another equally effective compress. To relieve pain, restore and strengthen joints, make a squeeze of burdock leaves. Soak gauze with juice (the juice is thick if not diluted with water) and apply it to the knee or any other joint. Wrap cling film on top and wrap it again with dry gauze.

For a more effective result, the gauze is changed every day, because within a day it dries out and the properties of the juice disappear.

Treatment of fibroids with burdock juice

I don’t remember myoma. I was already being prepared for surgery. And then they suggested how to get rid of the tumor without a surgeon’s knife. I prepared this folk remedy and was treated for three weeks. Then I went for an ultrasound - and there was no trace left of the uterine fibroids. It's been seven years now, no sign. Here is the prescription:

  • Rinse annual burdock root with cold water;
  • dry with a towel;
  • mince or grate;
  • squeeze out the juice and pour into a bowl.

Burdock juice thickens, so do everything quickly. Immediately mix it in equal proportions with honey and sea buckthorn and St. John's wort oils. For example, 100 grams of each of oils, honey and juice. Then add 0.2 g of mumiyo to the mixture. Soak a tampon in this mixture and insert it overnight.

Osteochondrosis - treatment with burdock juice

I want to share a folk recipe with burdock, which helped me a lot. In winter, osteochondrosis worsened - I couldn’t lift half a bucket of water. I tried so many recipes until I found my own:

  • 1 glass of burdock juice (April - May);
  • 1 glass of honey;
  • 1 glass of vodka;
  • leave in a warm place for 21 days.

.
Take 50 g in the morning on an empty stomach, 3 hours before meals, until the product runs out. My sister and I thought that 50 grams was too much, so we reduced the dose to 25.

The course of treatment is spring and autumn (October - November). This means that you need to prepare a burdock infusion for the fall. My condition has improved. Now I take this infusion every year.

Cysts on the kidneys are treated with burdock juice

I decided to write a proven folk recipe for kidney cysts. August is the last date for preparing burdock juice: Wash young burdock leaves and pass through a meat grinder. Squeeze out the juice, pour into a glass container and place in the refrigerator.

Drink very strictly according to the plan, without missing a single dose. Days 1 and 2 – 1 teaspoon 2 times a day. 3, 4 and subsequent days - 1 teaspoon 3 times a day. The course of treatment is a month.

In the first days, the discharge with a bad odor will increase. The color and smell of urine will change, and more phlegm will be coughed up. A month after the end of treatment you need to do an ultrasound.

In most cases, cysts resolve. But if there are still any left, then repeat the course of treatment. You can do three of them - after each month there is a break. Burdock juice also treats ovarian cysts and even soft tissue tuberculosis.

Which side should you apply the burdock to your head?

The leaves are great for headaches. Both fresh and dried leaves can be used. If you use a dried product, you must first rinse it with boiling water to make it soft.

Which side to apply the burdock to the head:

  • The fleecy side is used for the effect, as it helps to “wake up” the nerve endings, slightly irritating the epidermis.
  • This improves its permeability, and the active substances from the leaf actively reach the required area. Dry sheets are usually softened over steam.
  • You can create a kind of water bath. Place a colander in a pan of boiling water and add a few dry leaves. After a few minutes the sheet will become completely soft.

Burdock

For swelling in diabetes, a simple recipe

My husband has stage 2 diabetes. But then my leg began to swell, the swelling and blueness on my right leg did not go away. And I decided to try a folk remedy with burdock:

  • I lubricated my entire swollen foot and leg up to the knee with honey;
  • then she crushed 4 aspirin tablets and sprinkled them on her leg, lubricated with honey;
  • Burdock was placed on top in three layers (underside);
  • she tied a down scarf around her and put her husband to bed;
  • I did it 2 times a day.

After 5 procedures the swelling subsided. The leg became normal. The blueness is gone. Then I started doing wraps only at night. I dried burdock leaves for the winter and now I fill them with warm water. As soon as they become soft, I wrap them.

I use dried burdock roots like this: I brew 1 teaspoon with boiling water and give my husband 0.5 cups 15 minutes before meals. Sugar dropped from 12 to 6.3.

Sports for joints

Badly

  • Squats . When you squat down and then suddenly stand up, the knee joint experiences overload. This can lead to serious injuries such as a torn meniscus. By the way, this injury is very common among summer residents who squat for a long time, cultivating the beds. The angle of flexion of the knee joint when squats should not be more than 90 degrees.
  • Exercises with dumbbells . It is especially dangerous to lift heavy objects while standing.
  • Step aerobics . The risk of damaging the knee or ankle joint is quite high.

Fine

  • Swimming . This is a great workout for all muscle groups, especially if you swim different styles. But at the same time, when a person is in the water, the joints do not experience overload, and the likelihood of injury is very low.
  • Yoga and Pilates . During such training, the muscles are stretched slowly, the amplitude of movements increases gradually.

Watch your back!

People with a spinal disorder should be especially careful when performing some everyday activities.

In car . Take the correct position. Move your chair forward so you can reach the pedals with your feet without strain. Sit so that your back rests securely on the back of the chair.

On the street . If you return from the store with many purchases, do not put them in one bag. Carry your purchases in two hands. When unloading the trunk, take the desired position: knees bent, back straight. Place your heaviest items against the near wall of the trunk so that you can pull them towards you if they move inward during the trip.

In the country . Excavation work in the garden is the most labor-intensive. Before starting, do a 2-3 minute warm-up, choose a lighter shovel, and when lifting a lump of earth, keep your back straight and bend your knees. Place your forearm on your thigh and use it as leverage. Take a break every 10–20 minutes.

At the playground . To pick up your child, squat down in front of him, keeping your back straight. As you rise, tense your leg muscles.

Miracle healer - burdock root for tuberculosis

My father was repressed in 1938 and was in Krasnoyarsk prison. A year later he came out with open tuberculosis. A kind woman gave a prescription for the disease and convinced my mother that everything would be fine with my father.

It is necessary to dig up the roots of burdock, which does not produce inflorescences. It is also called big burdock. Chop finely, dry, and pound in a mortar. Pour one glass of crushed root into 1 liter of vodka, put it in a warm place (wrap it in rags) for 2 weeks.

The burdock roots will swell and the tincture will be small. Take 1 tbsp. spoon 3 times a day 30-40 minutes before meals. And what is also very important is that during treatment of tuberculosis you need to eat mainly lard and fats.

A month later, my father got stronger, went for an X-ray, but there were no holes in the lung, only scars. I once recommended this remedy to a young woman. I gave her burdock root and a cast iron mortar. She told me how to prepare the composition and how to eat. A month later, the woman was sent for an x-ray - the pictures were good!

Large burdock description of appearance

Photo: Pixabay
The plant is large, with an erect ribbed stem, from 60 centimeters to one and a half meters in height. Burdock has a large fleshy tap root and large leaves, making it difficult to confuse it with any other plant.

The stem is erect, ribbed, thick, reddish. Strongly branched in the upper part. The leaves are alternate, petiolate, broadly heart-shaped, mostly entire, less often notched-toothed.

The leaves are green above and gray-tomentose below. They reach up to 0.5 meters in length and the same width.

In the first year of life, only basal leaves develop in burdock. In the second year, the plant produces stems, blooms, and dies after the fruits ripen.

Burdock flowers are bisexual, collected in large spherical inflorescences-baskets with a lilac-purple corolla. Burdock blooms in June - August, and the seeds ripen in July - September. After the seeds ripen, the baskets fall off entirely from the stalks and are carried by animals and humans.

The fact is that the basket wrappers consist of hard, curved, clinging leaves, so they firmly cling to animal fur and clothing. We even have a saying: “He stuck like a burr.”

Burdock root for polyps

When I was preparing for surgery to remove gallstones, I was diagnosed with a polyp. After the operation I followed a diet, and it seemed that everything should be fine. But because of the polyp there was not a moment of peace. I started looking for traditional medicine.

A friend advised me to drink a decoction of burdock roots. I dug up medium-sized roots and washed them. I cut it into a two-liter saucepan and filled it with water. Boiled over low heat for 7-10 minutes. I drank the cooled infusion instead of water. I was treated for 2 months. When checking, no polyps were found.

The healing side

Burdock root infusion for ulcers

After two years of unsuccessful treatment for a duodenal ulcer. I decided to take my neighbor's advice. Which helped many people get rid of this disease. And all thanks to a simple folk recipe:

  • in the spring you need to dig up the roots of the usual burdock that grows in almost any wasteland;
  • wash well, peel, chop finely;
  • put in a saucepan, add water;
  • and boil for half an hour over low heat.

Cool the burdock root infusion. And drink 0.5 cups daily, 2 times a day - morning and evening 30 minutes before meals. Continue treatment until clear relief occurs. It took me several months, but the ulcer finally disappeared.

Medicinal properties of burdock

  • The root of the plant acts as a strong diuretic and diaphoretic. The dried root is included in blood purification preparations.
  • It has been experimentally proven that consuming the root increases glycogen deposition in the liver. In fresh form or in extract form, burdock root is indicated for diabetes.
  • Root extract improves blood and urine composition in gout patients. An infusion of roots is used to treat stomach ulcers, gastric bleeding, and chronic gastritis.
  • An infusion of the roots in almond or olive oil is produced under the name burdock oil. It is used for external treatment and strengthening of hair.
  • Fresh juice is effective against pathogens of purulent diseases, cancer of the esophagus, uterus and stomach.
  • Fresh leaves are used to treat old purulent wounds and tumors by applying them to the affected areas.
  • Preparations from seeds and the whole fresh plant can be used as a diuretic for edema, and for intoxication from insect bites and poisonous snakes.

Burdock treatment for eczema

If anyone suffers from eczema, do not despair. I cured my mother. Her legs were scary to look at. In May we dug up burdock roots, washed them, and cut them. I threw no amount of roots into a 10-liter saucepan, boiled it and let it brew. I did this in the morning.

And in the evening I tore the linen sheet crosswise and put it in a saucepan to get wet. I wrapped both legs with these pieces of flax, with film on top. I put my mother to bed and kept her warm. This compress remained almost all night.

The next evening I repeated the procedure, heating the burdock infusion. I did this for 14 days, during which time I changed the infusion 7 times. During the day, I didn’t cover the sore spots with anything - let the skin breathe. When on the 15th day she started to turn pink and something like a rash appeared. I bought Lorinden ointment and lubricated the sore spots. Everything healed and never happened again.

How to procure raw materials

Burdock roots and leaves are used as medicinal raw materials. Leaves for medicinal purposes are collected in May from sunrise to noon, in the first phase of the moon.

The roots of the plant should be dug up in late autumn, when the plant has already bloomed. To preserve the healing properties, do not wash the root; it needs to be slightly dried and removed from the soil with a brush. Then cut lengthwise and dry in a stove or oven.

The roots should be harvested in the third phase of the Moon, closer to sunset. It is not advisable to air dry raw materials.

Burdock juice for endometrial hyperplasia

I will share my experience of how I myself, with the help of traditional medicine, cured endometrial hyperplasia. I had irregular menstruation for about 15 years, and then in one year everything returned to normal. I suffered for a long time, doctors prescribed treatment with hormonal drugs, and I gained a lot of weight.

In the fall I prepared burdock roots. I brewed and drank 1/2 cup of them 2 times a day, morning and evening, 40 minutes before meals. And in the spring I started drinking burdock juice. I took it 1 tablespoon. Along with 1 tablespoon of golden mustache juice. I added 1 tablespoon of boiled water there.

She mixed it all in one glass and drank it. I drank it morning and evening, also 40 minutes before meals. Probably an important detail: she took the medicine during the waning moon. The first months I drank for 2 weeks, 2 weeks off. Now I drink it for one week, a week off.

My menstruation has improved. I’m so glad, because there was so much torment and I got rid of it so easily. Spring and summer - burdock juice, and autumn and winter - a decoction of the roots. Personally, I regained my health in one year.
